Ductile Iron Pipes
Pipes
Ductile iron water pipes have been used for decades due to their durability, strength, ductility and safety in application. The ductile iron that is made in today’s day and age is built to last at least 100 years.
Advantages of Use
The ductile iron pipes are produced using a technique known as centrifugal casting, where molten ductile iron is poured into a spinning mould that is water-cooled. The centrifugal force helps spread the iron evenly. They go through an intensive cleaning process before they are annealed, lined and coated and then moved into final inspection.
There are many advantages to using ductile iron water pipes over other options:
Ductile iron pipes are reliable being both strong and safe
They are a more sustainable choice, as they’re usually made from recycled materials, which is a feature highlight from an environmental perspective
They have good ductility and a toughness that can help them withstand shock encountered during transportation, installation, handling and use
Inside diameters are larger than most, increasing flow, which reduces energy consumption and pumping costs over time
They have a high bursting strength, which is suitable for high pressure applications
They are easy to install
There are multiple complementary joints and fittings available
They require little or no maintenance
Product Variations
We supply water pipes that are made in sizes with an inside diameter ranging from 75mm to 1600mm. They can also vary in thickness from 6mm to 22mm, which also adds to the variable pressure class, which can be 150, 200, 250, 300 or 350 psi.
